Abstract

Since the start of the digital era, experts believe that virtual currencies can become a future means of payment. Although it may be difficult to imagine a society that no longer do payments in cash. It is important to understand that money is merely an agreement to use something as an exchange tool. The virtual currencies evolved as part of virtual reality, which initially separated them from real means of payment. Virtual currencies have several definitions, just like any new phenomenon, and for the time being there is no single regulation, only some of the steps (guidelines, recommendations, studies, etc.), but in time there will be a need for specific regulation and it will require international concerted action.
