Velga Vevere, Dr.phil. (University of Latvia) is a Professor of Philosophy at the University College of Economics and Culture in Riga, Latvia. Besides that, she is a Senior researcher at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, University of Latvia. She teaches such subjects as Philosophy, Business Ethics, Communication Ethics, Intercultural Communications, Corporate image management, Marketing communications, Leadership of change for undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs. The languages of instruction are Latvian and English. The main research topics associated with her activities in the business schools are university social responsibility, leadership ethics, academic and socio-cultural adaptation of international students, social media ethics. She has presented her research in the international conferences in Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Poland. Among her publications are such articles as „Impact of Social Media on Communication Patterns”, „Ethical Leadership – Business Students’ Perception”, „Ethical Leadership – Meaning and Measurement. Latvian Retail Traders’ Perspective”, „Globalization of Education and University Social Responsibility”. V. Vevere’s interests in philosophy lies in the fields of Phenomenology (phenomenology of communication, phenomenology of place and spacial forms, eco-phenomenology), she has published a monograph on philosophy of communication of the Danish thinker Soren Kierkegaard, she has been the scientific editor of several collective monographs. She ha sparticipated in many international conferences in the USA, Mexico, Italy, Poland, Greece, South Corea, Turkey, Norwey, Denmark, Belgium) V. Vevere is the editor-in-chief of the journal „Economics and Culture”, published by de-Gruyter publishing house. Prof. V. Vevere acitvely participates in the distance learning programs of the university college, preparing e-materials and delivering video lectures on several subjects. During her teaching and research carrer she has spent time doing her research in foreign universities – Harvard University, USA (Fulbright scholar), Copenhagen University, Denmark (Kierkegaard Research Centre), St. Olaf College, Northhfield, USA (Summer fellow at the W. Hong’s Kierkegaard Library – for the last 3 years). She has actively participated in ERASMUS teaching program in Lithiania (Gediminas Technical University, kaunas Technical University, Romieris University), and Germany (Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences).
