Marek Kawa, PhD, Marek Kawa, a lecturer at Janusz Korczak Pedagogical University in Warsaw, a member of the Department of Social Studies at the University. The main fields of his scholar and social interests are: cultural and social anthropology, American studies, literature studies, social policy. He is the author of monography book, co-author of two, and has published articles in magazines Polish and international such as First Things, The Polish News Monthly or Rynek pracy (“Workforce Market”) and many others. In 2003, Dr. Kawa received his Ph.D. in Literature Science at the Polish Philology Institute of University of Opole; he also graduated in 2012 from the American Studies (MA) at the Institute of American Studies and Polish Diaspora of Jagiellonian University in Cracow. He is currently involved in local community initiatives and actions as the vice chairman of the Opole City Council – in his home town. In 2007 he was appointed by Sejm of the Republic of Poland as a member of Polish delegation to the Council of Europe. He was also a member of two committees of the Council of Europe: Social, Health and Family Affairs Committee, and Committee on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men. He was involved in two innovative EFS projects as a coordinator in 2012-2015 and later he has participated in many international social projects as well.
